Rumors of epidemiological situation in Matanzas denied
Once again the false rumors related to the epidemiological situation in the province of Matanzas are denied. In 2024, few cases of covid-19 have been diagnosed, says the director of the Hygiene Center, Dr. Andres Lamas Acebedo, in an interview for the Radio.

In the territory of Yumurino, there are variants of Omicron circulating which cause very banal catarrhal symptoms without the need for hospitalization and the people who have been infected evolve rapidly.
Even so, the specialist suggests to maintain the prevention measures especially in children under two years of age, since they are the only pediatric population that has not been vaccinated.
He also emphasizes on the surveillance of adults over 65 years of age.
In this first semester of the year, the professionals of the sector are preparing a vaccination campaign with anti-virus boosters to protect the lives of the most vulnerable.
The executive also explained that in the province of Matanzas a monitoring system is being maintained by means of PCR and rapid tests for those who arrive at health institutions with suspicious symptoms and signs.
