Scientific Athens» event held in Matanzas

The second edition of the «Atenas Científica» event, held at the provincial Historical Archive, dealt with the research results of Doctor of Science Oscar Piñera Hernández on the Patriotic Deputation of Matanzas.

The conference was given by the also professor of the Yumurina University and on the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the foundation of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country, entity presided by the outstanding intellectual.

Piñera Hernández donated to the entity an autographed copy of his text on the subject, and thanked them for the support he received to carry out his research.

In spite of his visits to several institutions of this type in the country, the greatest volume of information and the best preserved documents were found in the former home of the bard José Jacinto Milanés, today the Historical Archive, he said.

The provincial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, co-organizer of the event, recognized the Matanzas institution for its contributions to scientific development in the province.
