The Yumurí 2026 Film Club Meeting Returns
The 35th Yumurí 2026 Film Club Meeting will take place from September 2 to 5, with its main venue in the city of Matanzas and two sub-venues in Colón and Cárdenas, announced the Organizing Committee of the important audiovisual event.
The inaugural gala, titled «Cinema and Music,» will be on Wednesday the 2nd at four in the afternoon at the José White Concert Hall, with the premiere in Matanzas of the documentary «Mijaíl.»
Representatives from the more than ten competing film clubs will participate based on the territorial call issued by the Yumurino Provincial Film Center, in the genres of fiction, documentary, animation, video clips, reportages, and public service spots, as well as in the specialties of Best Direction, Cinematography, Editing, Soundtrack, Male and Female Performance, plus Production and Theoretical Research Work.
Two categories are also specified: the first, children and adolescents; the second, youth and adults.
Likewise, around 15 cultural and social institutions are involved, guaranteeing the event’s proper development.
The work sessions include competitive debate of the works, premieres, interviews with personalities, tributes, exhibitions, and on the 5th, the evening awards gala, which adds the presentation of the status of Honorary Members of Yumurí.
Standing out in the audiovisual day is the «Close Up» space at the UNEAC Social House, with National Film Prize winner Mirta Ibarra as guest, under the direction of the event’s president, the prestigious critic and filmmaker Mario Rodríguez Naite, to which is added the screening of the film «Neurótica Anónima» by the renowned filmmakers Jorge Perugorría and Ibarra, at the White Hall.
The 35th Yumurí 2026 Film Club Meeting, from September 2 to 5, is dedicated this year to the Centenary of the Commander-in-Chief and validates the rise of Matanzas film club culture in the formation of audiences and the countless talents born with a restless contemporary vision.
