Agroindustrial Investments Boosted in Jovellanos

Jovellanos – The «Ellas también producen» (They Also Produce) project is promoting the development of productive infrastructure in the municipality as part of the investment phase it has been executing since last year. These actions respond to a strategic plan to strengthen the autonomy of its associates and local food sovereignty.

Currently, six greenhouse tunnels are being built for the cultivation of various items, and three cold storage rooms are being constructed on the Las Delicias, Las Salamandras, Santa Sofía, and Ciro Redondo farms, in addition to other beneficiary farms. These facilities will allow for controlled seed production and post-harvest food preservation.

Adelina López, project coordinator and specialist in Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the Government, emphasized that these investments respond to the identification and diagnostic process in the Carlos Rojas, La Isabel, Carlota, and Horacio Rodríguez people’s councils.

She also noted that prior community work allowed for understanding the real demands of each area and prioritizing necessary infrastructure. The second stage of the project is key to translating those diagnoses into concrete actions. The specialist added that institutional support guarantees the timely execution of resources.

The closure of this phase does not stop growth, as new initiatives are added to the project according to the needs identified by the associates themselves. The program’s flexibility allows adjusting investments to the changing requirements of local agricultural production. With these works, Jovellanos and Ciro Redondo are emerging as benchmarks in agroindustrial infrastructure with an equity perspective. The commitment of «Ellas también producen» remains firm in accompanying rural women in their comprehensive development.
