Measures Applied in Unión de Reyes Against Abusive Prices and Commercialization Violations

Unión de Reyes – In accordance with decisions adopted in the province of Matanzas to confront abusive and speculative price increases, measures were applied this Tuesday in this territory against establishments and economic actors that incurred violations of current regulations.

According to Yaisel Pérez Hernández, vice-intendant in charge of the economy in the territory, explained to Radio Unión that during the day three decrees were applied and a commercial establishment was closed as a result of control actions carried out in the municipality.

Among the main infractions detected are the non-acceptance of payment through electronic channels, as well as the rejection of low-denomination bills — practices that directly affect consumers and constitute non-compliance with the provisions established for the commercialization of goods and services.

These actions come after the Provincial Government of People’s Power in Matanzas adopted new measures in response to concerns expressed by the population about the behavior of prices for basic necessity products.

Among the provisions, effective as of August 10, 2026, a commercial margin of up to 30 percent is established for the formation of wholesale and retail prices, in addition to reference prices for certain foods.

For wholesale and retail sales, respectively, the following values were established: cooking oil —except olive— at 2,250 and 2,500 pesos per liter; eggs at 100 and 110 pesos per unit; powdered milk at 3,000 and 3,400 pesos per kilogram; sugar at 350 and 400 pesos per pound; one-kilogram sausages at 850 and 900 pesos; cut chicken at 450 and 500 pesos per pound; pasta at 800 and 835 pesos per kilogram; ground meat at 300 and 350 pesos; rice at 250 and 300 pesos per pound; and beans at 300 and 350 pesos per pound.

In Unión de Reyes, municipal authorities will continue monitoring compliance with these provisions, with emphasis on consumer protection and confronting practices that violate established commercialization standards.

The population can also contribute to the control and reporting of possible violations. To report establishments that fail to comply with what is established in the territory of Unión de Reyes, the following phone numbers are available:

45 412 983

52 141 755

45 412 048

52 166 695

Authorities urge the population to use these channels to communicate any irregularities related to prices, payment methods, or other violations of current regulations.

The application of these measures seeks to contribute to greater order in the territory’s commercial activity and respond to the population’s concerns regarding prices, payment methods, and respect for current regulations.
