In order to comply with the transformations of the primary health care program, health professionals in Matanzas are taking on new challenges in order to rescue its founding principles.
After four decades of creation, the main challenge faced today by Yumurinos is to achieve and maintain one hundred percent coverage of doctors and nurses in all clinics.
Similarly, the aim is to reduce the attendance of 1,000 inhabitants for each of the aforementioned centers in order to better understand the population and offer differentiated care.
It is also necessary to complete the basic work groups in the polyclinics so that the different specialties are represented.
Dr. Mariela Romero Pérez, head of the Primary Health Care Program at the Provincial Directorate of Public Health in Matanzas, gives the details:
