Water service restored in the Canímar pipeline after repairing a breakdown.

As of Thursday night hours, water supply began to be gradually restored in the impacted areas of the city, including Playa, Peñas Altas, Canímar, Reynold García and Iglesias and Gelpi neighborhoods.

The repair work on the Canímar pipeline breakdown has been successfully completed, according to information provided by the companies in charge of maintenance on their social network profiles. The works, carried out by personnel of the Empresa de Mantenimiento y Reparación a Obras Hidráulicas Centro and the Empresa provincial de Acueducto y Alcantarillado, focused on a specific section at kilometer 22, in the vicinity of the railroad bridge in the municipality of Limonar.

The repair process included cutting and draining the affected pipe, followed by welding to repair the damaged area. Once this stage was completed, the workers re-installed the pipe, thus allowing the resumption of the water supply system.

As of Thursday evening, the water supply began to be gradually reestablished in the affected areas of the city, including Playa, Peñas Altas, Canímar, Reynold García and Iglesias and Gelpi neighborhoods. It is anticipated that the distribution system will be completely stabilized within 24 to 48 hours, normalizing service to the affected population.

This intervention was crucial to ensure the supply of water to homes and essential services in Atenas de Cuba, underscoring the importance of proper maintenance of the water infrastructure. The authorities have thanked the community for their patience during the period of service interruption.
