At the edge of town, right across from the fire station, stands a building with understated dignity, its facade bearing a name that evokes struggle, tenderness, and strength: Celia Sánchez Manduley.
The sign honoring her is not just a label, but a constant reminder of the legacy of a woman who dedicated her life to the Revolution and to the empowerment of Cuban women. There, in that maternal home that bears her name, a story of quiet dedication and boundless love unfolds every day.
On Latin American Medicine Day, this space took on a special symbolism. Assistant Dr. Norielys Ramos Mesa, wearing a white coat and with a serene gaze, shares that:

The services provided range from routine prenatal care to health education, psychological support, and nutritional monitoring, all aimed at ensuring a safe pregnancy.
Despite the economic challenges facing the country, the maternity home has welcomed 208 pregnant women so far this year, providing them with the best possible care.
“We have prioritized the provision of essential medications and nutritional supplements because we understand that every deficiency can impact two lives,” adds Dr. Ramos.
