Second Clarinet Festival in Matanzas ended with success.
Since last July 10th, the International Clarinet Festival Ciudad de los Puentes was held in Matanzas, with an extensive program that included lectures and practical classes, visual arts exhibition and concerts.
The second International Clarinet Festival Ciudad de los Puentes was held since July 10th and ended today, with its main venue at the White Hall.
A lecture on The Art of Being on Stage, given by the National Theater Award winner Rubén Darío Salazar, at the Casa de la Memoria Escénica, and an exhibition of works related to the clarinet by students of visual arts from the Escuela Profesional de Arte (Professional School of Art) opened the activities.
The inauguration of the event was in charge of Yoleidys Valderrama, with the performance of Isabel Rodríguez Tamayo, a young clarinetist who offered a beautiful recital together with the Concert Band, conducted by Yany Calama, and the José White Camerata, under the baton of maestro Bienvenido Quintana.
Meanwhile, at the closing ceremony, Maestra Yeny Delgado Rolo, a native of Matanzas who has lived in Argentina for 16 years, conducted the Matanzas Symphony Orchestra, with Argentine clarinetist Ariel de Vedia as soloist.
Also participating in the event were maestros Vicente Monterrey; Sabrina del Riego, a matancera living in Spain; Haskell Armenteros and the wind ensemble Nueva Camerata, from Havana; and maestro Roberto Medina, founder and president of the event.
Among the highlights of this event, in addition to the opportunity to have one of the not so numerous events dedicated to the clarinet in the world, is the systematic participation of different generations of vocational and professional level students from the Matanzas art schools.
