Cooking Workshop for Children with Disabilities Held in Cárdenas.

AACATI Cuba: Art Saves Shows the Different Possibilities Offered by Social Inclusion and How Teaching Cooking Creates Spaces for People Seeking to Grow.

Members of the Association Art Carving Thai International (AACATI) project, whose Cuban headquarters is Arte Salva, led a culinary workshop for young people with special needs participating in the Grandes Ilusiones (Great Illusions) project in this municipality.

The activity, entitled «Offering for Cachita,» featured a chef from the Varadero resort area preparing dishes that included pumpkin as the main ingredient, in homage to Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre.

Chef Adolfo Espinosa, leader and founder of the initiative, stated that inclusion is its fundamental purpose, in addition to giving young people with special needs the opportunity to be and feel useful.

The AACATI project promotes inclusion by providing activities for children with special needs, based on the premise of love as a fundamental tool.

«Working with these people makes us a little more humble, and for many of us who teach them, it opened the door to entering the world of education in a different way,» he added.

The chef stated that it brings him joy every time he sees the teenagers’ faces light up with a smile after learning something new and then being able to put it into practice.
