The World Day Against Child Labor.

The World Day Against Child Labor is celebrated every June 12th. This year 2023 the celebration aims to serve as a catalyst for the global movement against this scourge.

As stated on the official United Nations website, the experience of the last three decades has shown that child labor can be eliminated if its main causes are addressed. Measures to address them include the establishment and enforcement of a sound legal framework based on International Labor Standards and social dialogue, the provision of universal access to quality education, as well as direct measures to alleviate poverty and economic inequality.

Cuba also joins the Regional Initiative: Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labor. Since 1991, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) has been enshrined in law. Similarly, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development establishes the goal of eradicating child labor by 2025.

Because as Martí said in the Golden Age: Children are the hope of the world. The Cuban State has shown a strong political will to guarantee the adequate development and well-being of children and adolescents.
